This year, students will learn about the scientific process through the adventures of Zoey and Sassafras as they help an injured baby dragon. Zoey and Sassafras will ask, "What do dragons eat?" and hypothesize: Worms? Apples? Cereal? Marshmallows? It will take some experimenting to find out! This adorable chapter book invites families to cozy up and share in the delightful act of reading together. Thank you, Title 1 for funding this interactive family literacy event!

Attention WCPS families: With temperatures low, WCPS wants to remind our students and their families to be safe near bodies of water that form ice this time of year. Remember, the ice on ponds, storm water retaining areas, and canals is never strong enough to allow any human to walk on them. Keep the below safety tips in mind for winter water safety.

• Do not walk, skate, or play on frozen bodies of water. A good rule to follow is there is no such thing as a sate thickness of ice in our area.
• Keep pets and children away from ice-covered bodies of water.
Animals are particularly at risk of falling through thin ice.
• Educate children. Tell kids about the dangers of playing near frozen bodies of water and reinforce the importance of never venturing out on the ice.
• Report dangerous conditions. If you see anyone venturing onto the ice, immediately call 91l and inform local authorities.

Mrs. Eure's PreK4 Math and STEM explorers investigated ice melting, engineered creative structures with blocks, and practiced identifying numbers through hands-on play. Learning through curiosity, problem-solving, and fun is the Eagle Way! 🦅👩🏼‍🔬🎲

Happy Math Monday (and Tuesday!) 2nd graders have been busy with counting collections as we transition to learning about 3 digit numbers. Students were given a bag of hundreds of items to organize and count. They discovered several strategies for efficient and precise counting based on place value--hundreds, tens, and ones.
