🩵April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. Help us 💡LIGHT up awareness for those with the gift of Neurodiversity and celebrate a world with all different kinds of perspectives. Wear LIGHT BLUE to shine a ✨ light on your support. 🩵

Meet Zachary Johnson, Cedar Chapel Special School's Teacher of the Year, who we'll be celebrating at the annual Teacher of the Year Celebration on April 4.
The same Zachary Johnson who started as a substitute teacher, was hired as an educational assistant in 2008, earned a graduate degree in special education, secured a position as a classroom teacher, and obtained a PE certificate… is thrilled to deliver adapted physical education to the students at Cedar Chapel Special School. Mr. Zak has started multiple athletic clubs, coached Special Olympics (skiing, soccer, basketball, torch run), and teamed up with neighboring schools for inclusive activities. He takes having fun extremely seriously and strives to create a safe environment that dispels the “PE is not for everyone” myth.

Celebrating #WorldDownSyndromeDay. 💙💛 3/21
The 21st day of the 3rd month, is significant because of the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.

IMPORTANT STATEMENT FROM THE BOARD OF EDUCATION:
The Worcester County Board of Education remains committed to the safety and security of our students and staff. While we have already publicly addressed the recommendations and presentations by our law enforcement officials, we recognize that this continued public debate on school safety is not conducive to restoring the partnership between our entities, and it stands to further incite fear in our students.
To that end, the Board and Superintendent of Schools has extended an open invitation to the Worcester County Sheriff and Chief Deputy to meet with the Superintendent and Chief Safety and Academic Officer to discuss the execution of our Memorandum of Understanding and how we can best move forward for the betterment of our schools.
